MONA (The Museum of Old and New Art)
MONA is located within the Moorilla winery on the Berriedale Peninsula. It is the largest privately funded museum in Australia and is owned by David Walsh. Globally renowned, MONA is one of Tasmania’s biggest tourist attractions and it’s also the worlds largest privately funded gallery. It often contains challenging and thought provoking art. The architecture is impressive and the surrounds are pleasant. Sunday is a great day to visit when MONA market is on (during Summer only.)
MONA is easily accessible by car with plenty of parking on site. For the full experience we recommend catching the MONA urban camo catamaran from the terminal at Brooke Street Pier on the Hobart Waterfront (2.1km from Artstay). Cost $25 return. Best to walk into town to catch the ferry as parking in the city and at the waterfront is limited. See website for more detailed information.https://mona.net.au/visit/ferry-to-mona
Museum entry is $25 for adults and $20 concession. Tasmanian’s and under 18’s are free.
